Presentation of a joint innovation project between ABB and customers resulting in an online performance monitoring system for centrifugal compressors based on thermodynamic calculations and advanced integration of process and electrical signals. The integration of the electrical and process signals removes the impact of gas compositions, allowing for increased fidelity in performance estimates at wide operating range. The project utilized a modern, digital system architecture which allowed for improved data quality and a more efficient work flow.

Key Takeaways

– Stable and secure bridging of OT and IT systems allows for increased data quality and improved fidelity
– Methods for recognition of steady state behavior and drifting instruments are necessary for reliable performance estimates
– Choosing a flexible digital platform will allow for collaboration and a more efficient work flow
